The Yukon

We finally made it to the Yukon, where the scenery is still beautiful.  It rained last night, but we were able to sneak in a campfire before it started.  After looking at so many picturesque snow-capped mountains & beautiful lakes and valleys, I feel like it's starting to become routine & normal, but we're trying hard to not take it for granted.  Annie got to swim last evening right before the thunderstorm drove us indoors, so we had a wet dog to contend with.  She was ready for bed even though it was still light out, but it's light out all the time!  Well, at least from 4:30am-11:00pm, and the sky isn't really dark between those times.

Great news for me--I got a cinnamon bun and stopped at a quilt shop, all in one day!!! The cinnamon bun will never match those that Mary Lou Lawrence makes (retired head cook from school), but it was pretty good.  I asked the gals at the quilt shop if they cut fat quarters since they measure their fabric in meters, and they said they do as it's easier to keep everyone happy.

We're in Whitehorse, population 28,000, and headed to Dawson City, home of Diamond Tooth Gerties and the location of the cabin of Robert Service.  I suppose Randy will have to recite "The Cremation of Sam McGee" while we're driving there.  Oh boy! :-)

See you later!

  1. The upcoming ferry boat crossing of the Yukon River at Dawson City looks interesting. I wonder why they never built a bridge there? Have Randy figure that out.
